History and benefits of Reiki

Reiki is a traditional Japanese energy healing technique, which is often translated as 'universal life energy' or 'divine life force' reflecting the belief that this natural energy flows through all living things strengthening our connection to the divine. It's modern form was shared by Mikao Usui in the 1920's following a period of deep mediation and reflection on Mount Karuma, Japan. Usui’s experience there inspired him to develop techniques that could be embraced as a personal spiritual practice or offered as a healing modality, whether used for self‑healing or shared with others. Today, Reiki is widely practiced as a deeply restorative therapy, with many people describing how it supports their body's own healing processes; easing both their physical and emotional symptoms while fostering a sense of calm, clarity and inner peace. Testimonials

A significant part of Reiki’s history is preserved at the memorial stone dedicated to Mikao Usui in Tokyo. Erected by his students after his passing, the stone records his life story, his teachings, and the profound impact of his work. It also records the Reiki precepts; simple, but powerful guiding principles that Usui considered essential to living a balanced and meaningful life. These precepts encourage practitioners to cultivate gratitude, kindness, honesty, diligence, and integrity in daily life. They reflect Usui’s belief that Reiki was not only a healing technique but a holistic philosophy for wellbeing and compassionate living. As the heart of Reiki practice they are key to becoming Reiki in everyday living.
